I believe in the motto: People don't know how much you know, until they know how much you care. Dr. David Groesch Founder Central Illinois Hearing

About Us

Central Illinois Hearing, Ltd. was founded in 1998 by Dr. David Groesch, a licensed, certified audiologist, who believes people with hearing impairments are best served by knowledgeable and compassionate people. “Having a hearing disorder can be frustrating enough,” says Dr. Groesch. “They need someone who can take the time to understand them and their needs, so they can be treated properly.”

Dr. Groesch can diagnose, evaluate and treat communication disorders in people of all ages, from early childhood to adults. Among the clinic’s services are diagnostic hearing evaluations, hearing rehabilitation solutions, and speech and language therapy. (See Services Page for complete listing of services.)

Prior to founding CIH, Dr. Groesch practiced as a clinical audiologist in a variety of medical settings in the Springfield area. He serves as an adjunct professor of Deaf Studies at MacMurray College in Jacksonville and is also an adjunct clinical instructor for the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, Department of Surgery. He also serves as a legislative affairs liaison with the Illinois Academy of Audiology.

Dr. Groesch earned his Doctorate in Audiology from the University of Florida in 2003, a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts and Communication with a specialization in Audiology from Southern Illinois University in 1981, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts and Communication with a specialization in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Southern Illinois University in 1980. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology.

CIH is the result of Dr. Groesch’s years of education and experience, combined with his compassion for people with communication disorders. The entire staff at CIH shares in Groesch’s philosophy of caring about patients, not just treating them.
